  • Story: I have been in martial arts approx 6 years. I have obtained my black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I also volunteer my time instructing young children.I am currently involved in jiujitsu Aikijiu-jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, some judo, kickboxing, some MMA. It's all worth the torks, throws, and the pain.

I got involved with martial arts because Master Ralph Jaschke called my day care center the summer of 2001 and gave me a deal on the day care kids. I took him up on it, took some kids to the dojo and I figured if I'm going to be there, I may as well join and 6 years later I'm still there. I believe once it gets in your system-it's there to stay! August of 2006, I was invited to train with Sensei Rick Torres in jujitsu, aikido and aikijujitsu. He actually asked me, How bad do you want your second degree black belt?" My response.....was bad(I wanted my second degree black belt bad). But, now come to think of it, it's not about obtaining the # of degrees, but about the knowledge that you obtain. I received my yellow belt in jujitsu a few months ago, but it's not even about the color of the belt , again, but about everything I have learned and continue to learn. My first day in class I was hooked-hook, line and sinker:)
Last year was the first year that I didn't travel to compete in Tae Kwon Do tournaments as I had for about 4 years. Yep, I did the circuit and went to the karate world games in Florida, South Carolina, New York and Texas (my home state). I did really well throughout my competitions and that was very satisfying.
I own my own businesses (day care centers) in my hometown. I always knew I wanted to work with children or be a police officer/probation officer. I finished college and ended up with two criminal justice associate of applied science degrees, one in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement and the other in Criminal Justice Correctional Science. I also went on to receive my certifications in Child Care Management and Child Care Administration.
